Battle of the Somme, exhibition

These four sculptures commemorating the centenary of the battle of the Somme were inspired by the poems of the first world war poets, David Jonas, Wilfred Owen, and Siegfried Sassoon.  

The title,  '' No Garlands '' and '' Wars are Always Lucrative '' are lines from the poem Parenthesis by David Jonas.  

The title, '' Incurable Sores on Innocent Tongues '' is from the poem '' Dulce et Decorum est '' by Wilfred Owen.

The title '' O Jesus Make it Stop ''  is a poem by Siegfried Sassoon, the last line in the poem  '' Attack ''

The sculptures are made from beaten sheet steel which was welded and then left out of doors and allowed to rust.
